Aces guard Kate Martin marks Unrivaled joining announcement with 3-word reaction
Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart’s Unrivaled Basketball league is filling up rosters, with Las Vegas Aces guard Kate Martin set to join. Unrivaled posted a graphic of Martin with her ‘Money Martin’ nickname to X in the announcement.
Martin quoted the tweet, sharing her excitement as she prepares for the season’s 2025 tipoff.

“Pumped! Let’s goooooo!!! @Unrivaledwbb,” Martin posted, tagging Unrivaled in her caption.
Kate Martin appeared in 34 games for the Aces in her rookie season and notched up two starts, averaging 11.5 minutes per game. She posted 2.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.9 assists in her first season as a pro.
Las Vegas selected Martin with the No. 18 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, and she showed flashes in her rookie year. In the first start of her career, she notched up a career-high 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Martin grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists.
Unrivaled announces team names ahead of inaugural season
On Thursday, Unrivaled announced its club nicknames ahead of the inaugural season in January 2025. The six team nicknames are as follows:
Laces Basketball Club
Lunar Owls Basketball Club
Mist Basketball Club
Phantom Basketball Club
Rose Basketball Club
Vinyl Basketball Club
The league will play a 3-on-3 format, with each team being made up of three starters and two reserve players on a shortened 70-foot court.
Kate Martin is the 27th of 30 WNBA players in the pool. Some other notable signees include Breanna Stewart, who was the first athlete to sign with Unrivaled, Napheesa Collier, Chelsea Gray and Angel Reese, among many other WNBA All-Stars who have signed. UConn Huskies star Paige Bueckers, who has signed a Name, Image and Likeness deal, will appear in the 2026 season.
Stewart and Collier founded the league on July 6, 2023, and the first game will be played on Jan. 17, 2025. Unrivaled will allow players around the WNBA to further their merchandise sales and playing contracts, with the league’s season being played during the WNBA offseason.
