Experts point out the main reasons why Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes won’t be selected to the 2025 NFL Pro Bowl.

Every reason Patrick Mahomes was snubbed for 2025 NFL Pro Bowl

Four players were selected to represent the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2025 NFL Pro Bowl but, inexplicably, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was not among them.

For the first time in his career as Kansas City’s starter, Mahomes did not earn a Pro Bowl selection.

Instead, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, and Joe Burrow will be under center for the AFC in the annual All-Star game, which is rather bizarre given that none of them managed to lead their teams to 15-1 records and the conference’s No. 1 playoff seed.

Though Mahomes’ 2024 campaign was relatively underwhelming by his standards, the reigning Super Bowl MVP has put the Chiefs in a position to earn a third consecutive Super Bowl, even while battling an ankle injury.

The good folks at Pro Football Network outlined why Mahomes was snubbed, and provided context to his 2024 performance using their QB+ metric.

Take a look at their research below:

Patrick Mahomes top 2024 game, according to QB+, is an 84.9 (B grade), which ranks outside the top 20 (22nd) of all of Mahomes’ QB+ scores since the metric was created in 2019. This game was Week 8 vs the Raiders.

For the season, Mahomes ranks 10th overall in QB+ with a season score of 85.0. Lamar Jackson is 1st, Josh Allen is 3rd, Joe Burrow is 4th. Mahomes is 5th among AFC QBs, behind Tua Tagovailoa as well. The 85.0 season score would rank 5th of his 6 seasons since 2019, just ahead of last year’s 81.6 season score.

In looking at his 2024 season, that 84.9 (B grade) is ranked 52nd on the season for all qualified QB games. He only has 4 games this season (Week 8 vs. Raiders, Week 17 vs. Steelers and Week 5 vs Saints, Week 9 vs Bucs)) that rank in the top 100 games this season.

Jackson has the 4th, 9th, 10th, and 13th highest grades of the season and leads all QBs with the four “A” grades. Overall, Jackson has EIGHT games graded better than Mahomes’ best.

Allen doesn’t have an “A” grade this season, but has four games (all B+ or B) that are higher than Mahomes’ best.

Burrow recorded the 5th best score of the season (Week 5 vs Ravens) and has two games better than Mahomes’ best

Games in the top 100 for 2024: Jackson 10, Allen 9, Burrow 6, Mahomes 4
