Hurt Badly by Tiger Woods’s Behavior, Greg Norman Takes the High Road With Latest TGL Remarks
The rift between Tiger Woods and Greg Norman has always been a mainstay in the headlines. Usually when there is a conversation about TGL, LIV Golf, or the PGA Tour by either of them, the other usually has something else to reflect on.
But things have never been good between the two. The same can be said for Rory McIlroy, who has also had issues with Greg Norman and LIV Golf. The Irishman has been quite vocal about his dislike for the PIF-funded league. A lot of that recently reflected in his comments about his close friend, Tom McKibbin, possibly joining the other side.
And now when Greg Norman was asked about his opinion on TGL, he too showed his distaste towards the league. Most of it was because of TGL’s association with Woods and McIlroy.
Speaking to the Australian GolfDigest about if he had watched TGL, the Australian national said, “No, I haven’t watched a bit of it because there’s a couple of players who’ve been very vocal against me.” Trying his best to be neutral about the subject, Norman added, “So I’m not going to say anything positive or negative about it. All I can say is: the more golf gets exposure in different ways, the better off it is.” This clearly shows that he does not dislike TGL in general.
His last few comments were, “Simulator golf is simulator golf. We had putt-putt and all those miniature golf courses we built around the world. I think innovation is a wonderful thing,” suggesting that TGL is not real golf.
Norman then added, “I’m not going to belittle that. I wish them all the very best and success because it’s the market, right? They’re going to be pulling people into the game of golf.”
He seems to be focusing on the impact of TGL on the future of golf. But it does seem like Norman is actively trying to avoid talking about the performance of the league-owned by Tiger Woods & Rory McIlroy.
Norman’s hesitance to discuss TGL makes it quite evident that he does not prefer the league. Considering his relationship with the two owners, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to many.
