Billy Ray Cyrus slammed for ‘lip-synching’ and ’embarrassing’ performance at Trump’s Liberty Ball
Billy Ray Cyrus has been slammed for his performance at Donald Trump’s Liberty Ball, with viewers claiming he was lip-synching and looked ’embarrassing’
Billy Ray Cyrus faced a wave of criticism for his performance at Donald Trump’s Liberty Ball, with fans accusing him of “lip-synching” and comparing his appearance to that of someone who “crawled out from under a bridge.”
Technical difficulties added to the fiasco as the country star’s guitar failed to work, leaving him to sing a cappella like Carrie Underwood. Disgruntled viewers took to Twitter to express their disappointment, with one user commenting: “Billy Ray Cyrus, clearly lip-syncing, looks like he crawled out from under a bridge before this weak performance at Donald Trump’s inaugural Liberty Ball. So embarrassing.”
Another was just as critical, saying: “Who signed off on Billy Ray Cyrus performing tonight? They should be fired immediately. This is awful,” reports the Express US.
A third noted: “I’m embarrassed for you @billyraycyrus please get help and stop drinking. This is a disgrace to our President and our country get off stage.”
One fan asked due to several technical issues: “WTH just happened with Billy Ray Cyrus at the Liberty Inaugural Ball? Is he drugged out? Guitar not working? Or did they turn it off?
“He snaps his fingers and sings acapella with a hoarse voice? Wanders around then kneels? Had to be escorted off stage? Yikes.”
A fifth said: “What is up with Billy Ray Cyrus?? That wasn’t just technical difficulties….”
Billy Ray had a contentious 2024 due to his breakup from his wife Fire Rose and his continued beef with the Cyruses.
When it comes to politics, Billy and his daughter Miley Cyrus seem to be on opposite ends of the political spectrum.
Miley supported Vice President Kamala Harris in the November 2024 election, which isn’t shocking since in the past she’s always supported Democratic candidates. In 2016, she publicly campaigned for Hilary Clinton, and when President Joe Biden won in 2020 she shared a celebratory post on social media.

Not to mention the former child star also took shots at Trump throughout years, calling him a “racist, sexist, hateful a–hole,” in an interview from 2019. The businessman seems to also not be a fan of the Wrecking Ball singer given how he shaded her at his campaign rally in August 2024, which Billy happened to be at.
“Billy Ray Cyrus is here. Where is Billy Ray? He’s around here someplace, and he’s great,” Trump said at the event, “He’s a conservative guy. I said, How did you get such a liberal daughter? How had that happened, Billy Ray?”
Billy and Miley being so different politically could be a contributing factor in their estrangement. The daddy-daughter duo’s relationship reportedly went downhill after Miley’s mom Trish and Billy split after being married almost 30 years.
