The Montreal Canadiens have just released an official statement involving their new acquisition, Alexandre Carrier.
While we are still waiting to find out if the Quebec-born defenseman will suit up tomorrow for Martin St-Louis’ squad, the Canadiens are clearly preparing for his arrival.
Last night, Alexandre Carrier had this to say about the jersey number he would choose:
Well, just moments ago, the Canadiens announced that Carrier will officially wear number 45.

The excellent journalist Stu Cowan also provided additional interesting information following the jersey number selection:
«Defenseman Alexandre Carrier, acquired from Nashville Wednesday night in exchange for Justin Barron, will become the 12th player in Canadiens history to wear number 45.
The last was Laurent Dauphin in 2022.»

Carrier, 28 years old, hails from Quebec City (Quebec) and is a right-handed defenseman who has played 245 career games in the NHL.
He earns $3.75 million per year through 2027.
He truly helps stabilize Martin St-Louis’ defensive lineup. Yes, the Canadiens traded a younger defenseman for an older one, but we already have plenty of young players.
Who knows? He could become the next David Savard and be a reliable defensive presence for the Canadiens for years to come.
More details to follow.
