Scarlett Johansson is stepping into the spotlight in a whole new way this week,

joining Jenna Bush Hager as a guest co-host on the popular fourth hour of NBC’s morning show, Today with Jenna & Friends.

The pairing of the dynamic actress and the engaging TV host has proven to be a hit,

and PEOPLE was given exclusive behind-the-scenes access to their lively collaboration on January 21.

“It’s a complete dream,” Johansson shared enthusiastically. “I was telling Jenna earlier that this feels like something I imagined doing when I was ten years old.

To actually be on a daytime show and meet all these amazing people is surreal.”

She even humorously noted the overwhelming recognition she’s received from her guest hosting gig. “I’ve been stopped on the street more for this than for any movie project I’ve done!”

The day began with Johansson and Bush Hager filming the show’s cold open around 9:30 a.m., after which the duo briefly separated to prepare for the live broadcast.

Bush Hager, looking chic in a black sweater dress, retreated to her cozy dressing room, which was filled with an array of colorful shoes, coats, and, of course, books.

Despite the bustling environment, Bush Hager remained her charming and humorous self, chatting casually about her morning wardrobe choices.

As the clock ticked closer to air time, the energy in Studio 1A ramped up. The earlier anchors, Craig Melvin, Al Roker, and Dylan Dreyer, wrapped up their segment with lighthearted banter.

Melvin playfully fielded jokes about his recent PEOPLE magazine cover, while Roker shared slices of barbecue pizza from a previous cooking segment—all before 10 a.m.

The transition between segments is a finely tuned operation, with the studio team efficiently setting the stage for Bush Hager and Johansson. The atmosphere is upbeat and welcoming, something Johansson appreciated deeply.

“There’s such a good vibe here. I’ve done morning shows for years to promote projects, but this is different. Being here for an hour and really connecting with everyone is such a joy,” she said.

Johansson’s natural charisma shone as she partnered with Bush Hager, who was quick to praise her co-host’s skills. “She’s so naturally curious and a great listener, which are essential qualities for this job,” Bush Hager remarked. “She’s made us all cooler just by being here. We really crafted this week with her in mind.”

For Johansson, this stint is more than just a guest appearance—it’s the fulfillment of a childhood dream. She even joked about expanding her role on morning  television. “I told Al I’m coming for his job,” she said with a laugh.

“Though if I did weather, it would probably be disastrous. I’d be saying, ‘It looks cold,’ while it’s actually the hottest day of the year!”

The camaraderie between the co-hosts extended beyond the set. Bush Hager expressed her admiration for Johansson, emphasizing how much her presence elevated the show.

“When you’re starting something new, having people show up for you is an incredible feeling,” she said. “Scarlett has brought so much graciousness and energy to the table.”

As the live broadcast concluded, the studio crew erupted in cheers, chanting “Scar-lett! Scar-lett!” The actress was visibly touched by the enthusiastic response. “They don’t do this on movie sets!” she quipped, flashing her signature smile.

Though the day’s filming had wrapped, Johansson’s schedule remained packed, with plans to return for the next morning’s show. Her seamless transition into the role of co-host has been met with widespread acclaim, showcasing her versatility and charm in a new medium.

Bush Hager summed up the experience perfectly. “I love her,” she said warmly. “This week has been so special, and Scarlett’s presence has made it unforgettable. She’s not just a guest; she’s a part of the family now.”

With her stint on Today with Jenna & Friends, Scarlett Johansson has proven that her talents extend far beyond the big screen.

Her genuine enthusiasm, quick wit, and natural rapport with Bush Hager have made for a delightful week of television—and a dream come true for Johansson herself.
