As we reported just minutes ago, the Boston Bruins have fired the excellent coach, Jim Montgomery.

This was predictable, but since the Bruins’ official announcement, Montgomery’s name has already been linked to the Montreal Canadiens on numerous occasions.

After all, he is an excellent coach and would be ideal to support Martin St-Louis.

And I guarantee you this is just the beginning.

Montgomery finished his tenure in Boston with a record of 120 wins, 41 losses, and 23 overtime losses.. and he was fired! It’s still incredible.

He is an excellent coach.

A statement by Renaud Lavoie about Jim Montgomery and the Montreal Canadiens resurfaces

This is indeed an interesting moment to bring back a statement from TVA Sports journalist Renaud Lavoie, a statement dating back to March 2024.

«One day, he will coach the Canadiens.” – Renaud Lavoie on Jim Montgomery

Jim Montgomery will coach the Canadiens one day, claims Renaud Lavoie.

«What you need to know is that Montgomery speaks French, he has a great track record as a coach, and he has an interesting relationship with Kent Hughes, who also grew up in Quebec and knew Montgomery a long time ago.»

– Charles-Alexis Brisebois

Is that day approaching? I doubt it, but I still believe the Canadiens’ management will try to give Montgomery some kind of role.

He is too good and too experienced to miss this opportunity.

And you, do you believe Jim Montgomery will be hired by the Canadiens, considering his connections to Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton? What role would you see for him?
