We could see some action in goal for the Montreal Canadiens as early as today.

While some experts have mentioned that Jake Allen is greatly missed by the Habs, and many agree that an established veteran goaltender is needed alongside Samuel Montembeault, James Reimer is currently on waivers.

Will Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton claim him at 2 p.m. today?

Could Cayden Primeau be placed on waivers in the coming hours?

It’s a possibility being discussed.

James Reimer claimed off waivers by the Montreal Canadiens today?

We’re talking here about a well-established veteran goaltender in the NHL (over 500 career games) who earns $1 million per year through the end of this season.

A former Maple Leafs goaltender to support Samuel Montembeault?

And what about you, do you think the Canadiens will make a change in goal today?

At 36 years old, James Reimer is a 6 foot 2, 200 pound goaltender. In 503 career games in the National Hockey League, he has a goals-against average of 2.89 and a save percentage of .910 (with a record of 215 wins and 179 losses).

Last season with the Detroit Red Wings, he posted a record of 11-8-2 with a .904 save percentage.

This is a story to watch in the coming hours, but it’s clear that Cayden Primeau is currently on thin ice.

I imagine that Kent Hughes wouldn’t want to reintroduce another three-goalie situation, so if someone like Reimer joins, Primeau could potentially be placed on waivers.

If that happens, will he be claimed?
