Jordan Love injured (Photo by Wagner Meier/Getty Images)
In the last few seconds of the Packers Week 1 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, quarterback Jordan Love suffered a painful injury attempting a comeback. He ended up walking off the field with help from the trainers and needed further evaluation.
Now, though, after the team landed back in Green Bay, Love got the x-rays and tests done that showed the exact injury. He avoided the worst-case scenario, which was a torn ACL, and was rather diagnosed with a sprained MLC in the left knee.
As of now, there’s no exact timeline for Jordan Love’s return, as the extent of the MCL sprain is still unknown. Some reports are claiming that it could be a 3-6 week absence for the Packers star quarterback. However, further testing still needs to be conducted.
In the meantime, sports doctor Jesse Morse has provided an outline of the possibilities for Love following his diagnosis. And based on his report, the Packers are not out of the woods yet.
Morse points out that there are multiple grades of MCL sprains. A grade 1 sprain would keep him out for just 1-3 week, while a grade three sprain could be season-ending and require surgery.
It would have been a huge blow for the Packers and Love after he just inked a new four-year $220 million contract with $160.3 million guaranteed
Jordan Love had A Solid performance Against The Eagles
Despite the Packer’s loss and late-game injury, Love had a very solid performance, especially for a Week 1 game.
Against a Philadelphia defense with many stars, he completed 17 of 34 passes, had 260 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.
He also might have solidified his favorite wide receiver target for when he gets back to playing. Jayden Reed was a true bright spot, with 171 all-purpose yards, one rushing touchdown, and one receiving touchdown.
The pair could become a very dangerous duo very shortly.
