The Oklahoma City Thunder may encounter challenges in the upcoming games due to an injury to their center, Chet Holmgren. Holmgren has sustained a right iliac hip fracture and is expected to miss 8 to 10 weeks. In response to this situation, former NBA champion Dwight Howard has proposed a surprising solution to support the Thunder.
In a recent episode of the KG Certified podcast, Howard analyzed the challenging circumstances surrounding the Thunder. He suggested that the team should consider bringing him on as a contingency plan due to their ongoing injury problems at the center position.
“OKC, your boy is ready. What’s happening? Y’all need a big, y’all need a vet, y’all need someone who will bring some energy. I ain’t got nothing to do either. I just got finished dancing.” Howard said.
Howard’s statement ignited a debate among fans, who began sharing their opinions in the comment section of the NBA Central post on X. One fan remarked, “Dwight Howard is still an elite center y’all sleeping.”
Meanwhile, another fan mentioned, “Bro want a buss rider ring so bad.”
Another fan commented, “OKC not hearing him out.”
A sports enthusiast commented, “Okc still Elite with no Center.”
Another fan said, “DH always be pitching himself to NBA teams.”
A basketball enthusiast mentioned, “The booty warrior is on a mission.”
Another fan commented, “f*ck it let him get one more season in.”
Another fan remarked, “dwight just tryna get another ring.”
Howard Interested In Partnering With Alex Caruso In Oklahoma City
The Thunder have made an impressive start to the season. With their recent 106-88 victory against the New Orleans Pelicans, they currently hold a 10-2 record in the regular season. However, Holmgren’s absence may significantly impact their performance in future games. To address this situation, Howard has expressed interest in partnering with Alex Caruso on the Thunder.
“Me and AC together, Alex Caruso, championship, we done did it before. Y’all already got a superstar, all you need is somebody to play a little defense, that’s certified. Y’all need somebody that’s certified. He ain’t saying nothing, but he’s saying something. OKC, what are y’all doing? I’ll stay at the hotel with the ghost in it, I ain’t afraid of no ghosts. I’d go to OKC right now. Two years, let me finish out and get you a championship and then maybe another one.” Howard said.
Howard last played in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers before joining the Taoyuan Leopards of the T1 League in Taiwan. Since then, he has expressed a strong interest in rejoining the league. Last year, he came close to signing with the Golden State Warriors, but off-court issues ultimately prevented the contract from being finalized.
Howard is considered one of the greatest defensive players in NBA history. He played 18 seasons for various teams and achieved remarkable success, including being an NBA champion, an eight-time All-Star, and an eight-time All-NBA Team honoree. Additionally, he was named to the All-Defensive Team five times and won the Defensive Player of the Year award three times. His extensive experience could greatly benefit the Thunder if the deal goes through.
