Basketball fans are buzzing about the new Netflix series “Starting 5.” The captivating sports series follows Jimmy Butler, Anthony Edwards, LeBron James, Domantas Sabonis, and Jayson Tatum throughout the 2023-24 NBA season.
The series trailer was released on the official Netflix website a week ago. All the stars were gathered at the series premiere to drum up excitement among the fans. Meanwhile, a hilarious moment occurred during the premier when the Miami Heat’s star Butler found out that DeMar DeRozan was also present to attend the event.
In a recent viral video circulated by Netflix on X, Butler was spotted embracing Sacramento Kings forward DeRozan. In the clip, viewers witnessed a light-hearted exchange where the Heat’s star jokingly remarked, “You’re not even in the show!” to DeRozan, as he wasn’t a part of the Starting 5 cast. Nevertheless, the Kings forward took the joke in stride and congratulated Butler on his achievements.
Jimmy Butler reached a major milestone, as he will be included among the other top players in the series. However, the 6-time NBA All-Star experienced some bad luck on the court during the last NBA season. He missed the 2024 NBA playoffs because of an MCL sprain that he suffered during a play-in game against the Philadelphia 76ers.
NBA Fans Thrilled by Heartwarming Exchange Between Butler and DeRozan
NBA fans were filled with excitement after witnessing the heartwarming moment between Butler and DeRozan. They started praising the stars in the comment section of Netflix’s post on X. One fan said, “Jimmy and DeMar’s off-court chemistry shines just as brightly as their on-court rivalry!”
Meanwhile, another fan mentioned, “Star power at the premiere!”
An NBA enthusiast explained, “Love the banter between Jimmy and DeMar! It’s great to see the camaraderie off the court, especially at events like this!”
Another fan reacted, “Ayy, that’s how it goes! Legends linking up, bringing that court heat to the big screen, feelin’ the vibe!”
Butler, who recently displayed rude behavior in a poker game, will play his first preseason game of the 2024-25 season against the Charlotte Hornets, and it will be fascinating to watch.
