Despite his Boston Celtics losing for the first time this season on Wednesday night, Jayson Tatum is having a very good year.

Tatum has been putting up MVP numbers for the first five games of the season and many people are noticing.

According to the Real app, via NBACentral, Tatum has statistically been the best player in the league so far this season.

Tatum is the top player with a score of 28.8, followed by Paolo Banchero of the Orlando Magic with 25.1, Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers with 24.6, and Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets with 24.2.

How long will this amazing run last for Tatum?

When the season began, many Celtics fans were expecting big things from Tatum, partly because of the complicated summer he had.

Of course, he won his first championship months ago but the offseason was difficult for a few reasons.

There were criticisms about his postseason performance, especially since his teammate Jaylen Brown seemed to get most of the attention and praise.

Matters were made even worse when he played for Team USA at the Paris Olympics and head coach Steve Kerr chose to bench him most of the time.

Therefore, people thought Tatum was on the verge of a revenge season even though he had just won a title and had the best year of his career.

Tatum has taken things to a whole other level so far and is averaging 30.2 points, 7 rebounds, and 5.2 assists.

Those are eye-popping numbers that are truly worthy of MVP consideration.

But will it last and can Tatum keep it up for the rest of the season?
