The three-game suspension for Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair for his dirty hit on Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was upheld on Wednesday.

The NFL said Al-Shaair has committed repeated violations of rules intended to protect the health and safety of players and promote sportsmanship.

Al-Shaair, who was ejected from Sunday’s win over the Jaguars, appealed the suspension, which was heard by former NFL offensive lineman Ramon Foster. The former Tennessee Titans player opted to uphold the suspension of the Texans linebacker.

In the wake of his suspension, Azeez Al-Shaair would take to social media and embrace the villain role.

Al-Shaair posted on X and Instagram, calling himself a villain. He used four photos, which included Joaquin Phoenix’s DC Comics character, the Joker.

He also had a photo of himself, a photo of the “Free Palestine” cleats in the colors of the Palestinian flag that he wore in support of the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, along with a photo of a caption that read: “There is a beauty in being rejected, misunderstood, unseen and unprotected by people. It teaches you to relay on Allah for everything.”

Al-Shaair then wrote, “IF YOU WANT ME TO BE YOUR VILLAIN, ILL BE YOUR VILLAIN! SEE YOU SOON. . .”

Joe Mixon made sure he knew that he had his back.

The Texans running back took to his Instagram story and shared Azeez Al-Shaair’s post while stating, “We gone step for you, bro.”

Mixon and Will Anderson were also in his comment section, showing support for him.

Azeez Al-Shaair is Getting Suspended At The Worst Possible Time

The NFL upheld its three-game suspension of Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair for the hit that knocked out Trevor Lawrence in Houston’s 23-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Lawrence was placed on injured reserve Wednesday and is likely out for the rest of the season.

Al-Shaair being suspended for three games came at the worst time.

He will be eligible to return to the Texans’ active roster following the team’s Week 17 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

That means he will miss huge games against the Dolphins, Chiefs, and Ravens.
