We just had an interesting development in the potential trade involving young defenseman David Jiricek.
It really feels like it’s just a matter of hours before Jiricek is officially traded, and as of this morning, the Montreal Canadiens are still in the race. (according to reputable reporter Chris Johnston)
Chris Johnston reveals the teams in the race and the price to pay to acquire David Jiricek in a trade
Check out the details.
«There’s around 8 teams in on Jiricek. MIN is the front runner but names NSH, PIT, VAN, PHI and the Montreal Canadiens. CBJ will consider a pick and prospect package now.
I have a feeling is it will happen soon, says insider Chris Johnston.
– NHL Trade Alert
The price to acquire young Jiricek is:
– A draft pick and a prospect.
Knowing this, would you offer the Panthers’/Flames’ 2025 first-round pick, which is expected to be around 20th overall, + a prospect like Filip Mesar, in exchange for the young Jiricek?
David Jiricek, only 21 years old, is a 6’4″, 205-pound right-shot defenseman. He was selected 6th overall (1st round) in 2022 and tallied 30 points in 43 games in the AHL last season.
This season, he has 2 points in 3 games in the AHL and 1 point in 6 games in the NHL.
It’s truly intriguing to learn that the Montreal Canadiens are officially in the mix, but Kent Hughes is clearly not alone in this race.
According to Chris Johnston, the Habs are still in the running to acquire the services of David Jiricek.
Well, they rarely win this type of «derby,» but we’ll keep a close eye on it nonetheless. This matter should be resolved very soon!
