‘Why is this still up?’: WNBA fans call cap on Angel Reese’s ‘woe is me’ demeanor, pointing to her Caitlin Clark taunts

The Angel Reese-Caitlin Clark rivalry has been one of the most talked about storylines in women’s basketball this year. While most of the headlines have revolved around the players’ performances on the court, Reese’s recent post has fans questioning the Chicago Sky star’s “woe is me” demeanor.
On Thursday, Reese posted a message on her X account criticizing the media for creating a narrative against her and called for a change. She also accused the media of benefiting from her pain over the last two years.

Reese’s post led to a strong reaction from basketball fans on social media, with many pointing to her previous Caitlin Clark taunts. Some fans went as far as to say the dramatic post is completely out of line with how she has conducted herself over the last 18 months.
One fan shared a post from Angel Reese’s X account which shows the former LSU player provoking Clark with the “You can’t see me” hand-to-the-face gesture made famous by WWE star John Cena:
“Why is this still up then?”
Another video of Reese has emerged of her disrespecting Clark after the LSU Tigers won the women’s NCAA national championship in 2023.
“What happened to u being the one who disrespects people ???,” the fan said.
“You literally said you would take on the villain role and now you’re crying when you’re treated like a villain?,” stated another fan.
“Yeah, I’m not reading all that, but Clark is better,” commented another fan.
“The victim tour has begun,” says a fan.
“When she wins she taunts. When she loses she the victim,” stated another fan.
“Woe is me” strikes again…….Angel Reese is one interesting person” said a fan.
Reese’s earlier taunts towards Clark left many fans surprised that the forward is now posting about changing how players are treated in the league.
Caitlin Clark edged out Angel Reese for the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year award

Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark have both had outstanding rookie seasons with both players leaving their mark in the league.
No player averaged more rebounds per game than Angel Reese. The Chicago Sky forward became the first player in league history to record 20 or more rebounds in consecutive games. She also broke the WNBA record for consecutive double-doubles with 15.
Caitlin Clark led the WNBA in assists and ranked seventh in the league in points per game with 19.2. The Indiana Fever star broke the single-season assists record and the single-game assists record with 19 in a game against the Dallas Wings on July 17. She is also the only rookie in league history to record a triple-double, achieving the incredible feat on two occasions.
After Clark’s remarkable year, she edged out Reese for the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year award.
