She has been busy working up a sweat on her The Avril Lavigne Tour.

But Avril Lavigne took a well-earned break from her current run of gigs on Sunday as she stripped down to her bikini for a day on the beach in Cancun, Mexico.

The 29-year-old singer – who is married to Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger – showcased her beach body on the sand in a two-piece brown bikini.

The brunette beauty accessorised her look with a pair of big sunglasses as she topped up her tan.

She also added a large sunhat to ensure she didn’t get burnt while soaking up the Mexican rays.

Avril’s beach look also enabled her to showcase her array of tattoos, including the outline of a star on her hip.

But the When You’re Gone hitmaker nearly suffered a wardrobe malfunction while frolicking in the sea as she came close to losing her bikini bottoms.

The Slipped Away singer was seen placing her hand onto her clothing to protect her modesty.

When she wasn’t clutching onto her bottoms, Avril looked to be having a whale of a time as she crashed into the waves in the sea.

Later on in the day, the star treated herself to a spot of sunbathing on a sun lounger.

Avril completed the South American leg of her tour on Friday in Santiago, Chile, and is set to perform her next gig in Monterry, Mexico, on Tuesday.

The singer’s mammoth 70-date tour will come to an end in the US on June 28 but not before she plays one date in her native Canada and a hat-trick of gigs in Mexico.
