Tom Brady Blames Aaron Rodgers for Sabotaging Jets’ Locker Room as Disgruntled $10M Star Seeks Trade
The Jets season is slowly fading away as they lost against the Steelers on Sunday, 15-37. “I have to play better. That’s the key. I have to play better. We have to find a way to run the ball better so we can play-action pass,” Aaron Rodgers said after the game. He even felt quite sad about his interception thrown to Steelers cornerback Beanie Bishop Jr. in the second quarter. Losing their fifth game of the season, the Jets currently stand 3rd in the AFC East with slim chances of making it to the playoffs.
Even after sacking their head coach, Robert Saleh, and adding six-time Pro Bowler Davante Adams to the lineup, their fortunes haven’t improved. With so many changes happening and no positive results, is Aaron Rodgers the culprit hiding behind the shadows?
Well, the seven-time Super Bowl Champion, Tom Brady, might think so. When he was asked his opinion about public criticism like how Rodgers publicly criticized Mike Williams and how coach Jerod Mayo did to his players, Brady shared his opinion.
Giving his insight into how he handled responsibility as QB, Brady said, “I always tried to lead with just communication and developing a relationship with the players that I was playing with just so they knew if I did say something critical, I did it because I was trying to help the team improve. And maybe it wasn’t even publicly, maybe it was just the locker room or field or something like that.”
“But I never felt the best way to handle critique and coach would talk about this as well is to talk to someone else who wasn’t really involved in the situation. If I had an issue with a player, I was going to speak to the player. A quarterback-receiver relationship is all about trust. And it is all about him doing the right thing, me trusting,” he said on the Let’s Go podcast.
Of course, he is talking from his own experience as a quarterback for the Patriots from 2000 to 2019, and later, the Buccaneers.
“I communicated to my receivers all the time. ‘Hey, there are my expectations.’ And there’s sometimes where I came up short and the reality is when you are in at that type of team relationship, there are a lot of times as a player where you come up short and you got to have the humility to tell everybody, ‘Hey, I got to do a better job. I’m going to do a better job.’ And you got to go out there any prove it. To me, those things are individually addressed.”
Well, this came on the back of Rodgers, throwing his teammate Mike Williams under the bus. Before the Steelers clash, the Jets had a close game against the Bills that could have gone either way. Losing 20-23 on the night, Rodgers decided to publicly blame Williams for a mistake in New York. ‘
Giving his take on a play where Williams could have done better, he expressed, “It was two verticals. Allen down the seam. Mike’s down the red line. So I’m looking at Allen. He puts his hand up. Three guys go with him. So, I’m throwing a no-look to the red line. And when I just peek my eyes back there, he’s running an in-breaker. So, it’s gotta be down the red line.” Since Rodgers publicly criticized the 30-year-old, Brady wasn’t the only one who has had a problem with this.

Former Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, on the ‘Pat McAfee Show’, spoke about how he should have taken the responsibility, “Why can’t he shoulder all the blame in the media and then get behind closed doors with Mike Williams or the whole offense or the whole team or anyone else that isn’t doing their job and tell them he needs more out of them.” Well, Brady also shared the same views as Fitzpatrick as Rodgers continued to get bashed for his public outrage.
Let us not forget that the Jets won only two games so far and are trailing 2-5. So Amid such treatment and Davante Adams arriving in New York, Mike Williams is reportedly seeking a trade elsewhere.
Mike Williams searches for a new home after public humiliation by Aaron Rodgers
After Aaron Rodgers’ comments, it seemed like Williams would have been upset to see himself thrown into the fire. However, the Jets WR remained unfazed as he owned up to his probable mistake.
“I just have to be on the red line.” Well, as Williams gave his thought, Rodgers wanted to clear the air on the Pat McAfee show, “It was two verticals to the right side, and Mike needed to get to the red line, which would have been a big gain. So, I wasn’t calling Mike out for anything other than his responsibility and the details on that play. I have a lot of love and respect for Mike.”
Williams was supposed to play a huge role in the Jets’ offense this season alongside Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard. However, the $10 million star could be headed elsewhere as the Steelers have inquired about his services after missing out on 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk in the offseason.
The Steelers remain in the market for a receiver to add to their ranks. Although George Pickens is playing well this season with over 200 receiving yards by his name, they don’t have any other proven receiver to rely upon.
As they are yet to make a move on the 30-year-old, will we see Williams play for another franchise this season? Well, we will find out soon as the trade window slams shut on Nov 5.
