The Kansas City Chiefs held off the Atlanta Falcons, 22-17, on “Sunday Night Football” to improve their record to 3-0 on the season.

On one of the final plays of the game, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes attempted to slide in the backfield while running out the clock, but came up limping after appearing to tweak his left knee on the Mercedes-Benz Stadium turf.

Mahomes spoke to NBC Sports sideline reporter Melissa Stark on the field immediately after the game and reacted to the injury scare.

“The turf got me, man,” Mahomes said. “I was trying to just take a knee and my foot got stuck, but I’m all good. I’m just glad we got a win.”

Mahomes finished the game with 217 passing yards, two touchdowns and an interception on 26-of-39 passing. With four interceptions through three games, the two-time NFL MVP is pacing toward over 20 picks this season. He set a career high with 14 interceptions in 2023.

Still, Kansas City outpaced Atlanta in total yards, 345 to 311, and time of possession, 34:57 to 25:03.

According to Fox 4 Kansas City reporter Harold Kuntz, Sunday’s win was No. 77 for Mahomes in his first 100 NFL games, the most of any quarterback in league history.

The Chiefs will hit the road again in Week 4, this time for an AFC West divisional clash with the Los Angeles Chargers (2-1) at SoFi Stadium.
