Following the shocking Yellowstone finale, which aired last night (Sunday, December 15th), Luke Grimes has taken to his socials to express his gratitude for being a part of the show.
Grimes has played one of the leading figures in the Yellowstone world, Kayce Dutton, who serves as the unifying figure between the Dutton family and the Broken Rock Reservation.
In a new post, Luke Grimes has reflected on the Yellowstone rollercoaster ride of the past few years, “End of an era. Goodbye Kayce. You are a better man than I. To my yellowstone family, thank you for the experience of a lifetime”. It seems his modest comment, “You are a better man than I”, is a nod to Kayce’s determination not to get drawn into the violence and territoriality that has become associated with the Dutton legacy, as well as his commitment to Monica and Tate.
While there have been rumours of late that Taylor Sheridan might be in talks to extend Yellowstone for one more season, it’s unclear at this point whether we will ever see Kayce return to the Dutton universe. Beth, played by Kelly Reilly, and her husband, Rip Wheeler, portrayed by Cole Hauser have reportedly signed on to star in a forthcoming offshoot, with another spin-off in the works titled, The Madison.
At the moment, there has been no word as to whether Luke Grimes is having discussions about featuring in either Beth and Rip’s spin-off, The Madison or perhaps one of his own.
Luke Grimes has embraced the Yellowstone life since he started working on the Montana-based show, with Grimes moving to the state and launching a country career with a sparse, stripped-back sound that aligns with the revered Yellowstone soundtrack.
After Yellowstone‘s rip-roaring finale, which saw Lainey Wilson returning as Abby and performing her hit single, ‘Hang Tight Honey’, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed this isn’t the last time we see Luke Grimes portraying Kayce Dutton on our screens.
