Everything is fine with the Montreal Canadiens right now. This may be related, or maybe not, but it coincides with a slight change made by head coach Martin St-Louis regarding the team’s schedule.
Instead of prioritizing on-ice practices at all costs, even on long travel days, Martin St-Louis is increasingly focusing on giving his players rest.
We have regularly seen practices being canceled, precisely because the team has been spending a lot of time on planes in recent weeks, and it seems to be paying off!
In short, the day after the nice 3-1 victory against the Dallas Stars, and as the team heads back to Montreal, it’s another day off for Canadiens players today.
A new successful tactic for Martin St-Louis
Not only will the team not practice today, but the session scheduled for tomorrow could also be canceled, according to what the excellent Maxime Truman reports.
The Canadiens, still in Texas, will return to Montreal in the next few hours. No practice is scheduled for today.
A morning practice session is planned for tomorrow at the Bell Centre, but it could also be canceled.
The Canadiens will face the Maple Leafs on Saturday and the Rangers on Sunday. Both games will be played at the Bell Centre.
Personally, I have absolutely no problem with that.
If the team doesn’t practice tomorrow, we’ll have to wait for Martin St-Louis’ press conference to find out what changes, if any, have been made to the lineup.
The Canadiens will face the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New York Rangers, Saturday and Sunday at the Bell Centre, so we expect Jakub Dobes and Samuel Montembeault to share the workload.
Details will follow.
That says a lot.
