The Detroit Lions shared good injury news about running back David Montgomery and cornerback Terrion Arnold. In the team’s practice report for Tuesday, Montgomery (knee) and Arnold (foot) were full participants in practice. The Lions, who were off this past weekend, are getting ready to face the Washington Commanders in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

Montgomery tore his MCL in the game against the Buffalo Bills on Dec 15. He opted not to undergo surgery and instead chose to rehabilitate the injury in hopes of returning to the postseason.

Arnold suffered a foot injury in the Lions’ Week 18 game against the Minnesota Vikings. He was carted off the field, but Lions head coach Dan Campbell said Arnold’s X-rays were negative.

Montgomery joined the Lions in 2023 after spending his first four seasons with the Chicago Bears. In 14 games this year, the former Iowa State running back rushed for 775 yards and 12 touchdowns on 185 carries.

“No. 5 is a big part of us,” Campbell said on Monday, per the Lions’ official website. “He’s a huge part of us. To me, he’s a bell cow. He’s somebody that is a tone-setter. He’s a catalyst. There’s a place for him here and a place for him in this game.”

Arnold joined the Lions this year after the team drafted him at No. 24 overall. In 16 games this season, the former Alabama cornerback recorded 60 tackles, 10 passes defended and one fumble recovery.

“Listen, he’s always been sticky in coverage, it’s the growth of him from how he started to where he is now,” Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn said last month. “And I know that everybody was on him about these PIs, which still kills me, but listen, that player is going to be a damn good player for us.”

Glenn added: “Listen, we’re putting a lot of pressure on this player by the way that we play, but there’s no other way that he would want it. So, I’m glad we’ve got him for the simple fact that he’s going to be one of the top corners in this league as his years progress.”
