The Buffalo Bills had a more challenging than-expected game against the New England Patriots on Sunday.
Although they won, one play may have changed the entire outcome of the contest.
The Bills had zero points in the second quarter and were midfield against the Patriots defense.
The Buffalo Bills ran a play that should’ve been called dead, as the play clock had expired. Unfortunately for the Patriots, they did not, and it led to a 47-yard touchdown for the Bills, which got them on the board.
Fans were convinced that the refs were helping out the Buffalo Bills in a game that kept them within striking distance of the top seed in the AFC.
“We not suprised cheifs always benefit from the refs 😭,” one fan said.
One fan wanted to see the actual play: “Need to see video. The official responsible for watching the play clock waits until the clock hits 00 and then looks to see if the ball has been snapped yet. If the answer is no he throws the flag, however there’s a slight delay in between where it’s possible to snap the ball and get away with it.”
One fan added, “Refs always helping the Bills.”
Another X user added, “Yes, like any sport, there are always missed and wrong calls. It’s human error. At this point, unless it’s egregious, is it worth posting?”
One fan put the Chiefs into the conversation with the lack of a call on the Buffalo Bills: “The NFL made sure to not let the Bills lose bcos the Chiefs would’ve not played the biggest star in the sport on Christmas Day. Ratings would’ve gone down. They need Mahomes to play.”
One final fan summed it up: “You just had the Patriots tackle move and they called it on Buffalo refs have been terrible today. But this is Alan‘s crew. They’re terrible every week.”
Buffalo Bills Remain In The Hunt For The AFC Top Spot
With a 24-21 win over the New England Patriots on Sunday, the Buffalo Bills remain in pursuit of the AFC’s top seed.
With the Chiefs defeating the Texans to improve to 14-1, Buffalo’s only chance of catching Kansas City for the top seed would be to win its last three games, and it worked out well in the first game.
They also have to hope the Chiefs lose their last two, both on the road against the Steelers and Broncos.
