Raiders’ Maxx Crosby out for rest of season with ankle surgery needed

Raiders star Maxx Crosby needs season-ending ankle surgery, according to an Instagram post on Saturday.

Crosby broke the news himself, posting the update to his Instagram account, along with a message to his fans.

“As much as it pains me to not go to war with my brothers and for the fans, I truly believe that everything happens for a reason,” Crosby said in his Instagram post. “I have absolutely zero regrets with my process, my approach and my discipline to this game.”

The 27-year-old first injured his ankle in Week 2 against the Ravens, missing just one game after.

Crosby’s ankle was re-aggravated during the team’s Week 14 contest against the Buccaneers, which eventually required the surgery.

“I will stand in the fire no matter what the circumstance because this game is my life,” Crosby said. “If I got a heartbeat, I expect to play for the fans that spend their hard earned money to watch me perform and wear my jersey every Sunday.

Prior to his season-ending injury, the 2019 draft pick anchored the Las Vegas defense, leading the Raiders in sacks.

According to an ESPN report, Crosby plans to meet with Dr. Rob Anderson on Monday to go through with the arthroscopic surgery.

Following the procedure, the need for a possible second surgery will be determined, along with how much damage to the ankle Crosby has experienced.

With a 2-11 record heading into Week 15, the Raiders have been eliminated from playoff contention this season.

The three-time Pro-Bowler now has his eyes set on the 2025 NFL season, but there is speculation that he will not return to Las Vegas, with multiple teams inquiring about Crosby ahead of the trade deadline.
