On February 27, 2024, Netflix confirmed that Jeremiah Brent would be joining the cast of Queer Eye, replacing designer Bobby Berk as the show’s decorating and design guru.

Bobby had a huge falling-out with Tan France on the show, with him rumored to have quit or been axed from the hit Netflix program last November.

And now, a year on, season nine of the beloved program will soon air – with the teaser trailer featuring Bobby’s replacement and sparking discourse on social media.

Reacting to the all-new trailer which was shared this week, one person took to Reddit to say, “Ahhhh I loved Jeremiah on Rachel Zoe; he’s so adorable and talented!!”

Another gushed, “I can’t wait I loved his show Nate and Jeremiah by design! Love him!”

While a third said, “I feel like Jeremiah fits in way better than Bobby did.”

But someone else slammed, “Fake and performative.

“This season is only happening because everyone involved wants more money and attention. The real purpose has been lost a while ago.”

To which someone replied, “It always was about money and attention, and I’m saying that with no judgment, I’m not sure what else you think a high-profile global Netflix show is about?!

“The premise of QE was to expose conservatives to queer people, “turning red states pink”, and that’s what it does.

“The notion that the cast should set some kind of moral example is something that was projected onto them by fans and media afterwards.”

BOBBY’S QUEER EYE EXIT

In November 2023, Bobby announced his departure from Queer Eye, calling it a “difficult decision”.

Season eight of Queer Eye will be Bobby’s last, and that will kick off in January 2024.

“The love that I have received from you all over the last 6 years has been absolutely surreal,” he explained in a lengthy Instagram post.

“You have tuned in and been dedicated fans and together we were able to share the healing powers of design.”

The Netflix star continued: “I learned from you all about kindness, love, and acceptance, and that has changed my life for the better.

“The way you have embraced me and accepted me for who I am is something that l will truly carry with me for the rest of my life.”

Bobby thanked the audience: “Throughout these years, you, the die-hard fans of Queer Eye, have all shared so many stories with me about how the show has touched your lives and I could not be more grateful to each and every one of you for being brave enough to share your experiences.”

The Queer Eye star added: “It’s with a heavy heart that I announce that season 8 will be my final season on Queer Eye.

“It’s not been an easy decision to be at peace with, but a necessary one.

“Although my journey with Queer Eye is over, my journey with you is not.

“You will be seeing more of me very soon.”

BOBBY’S SIDE OF THE FEUD

In January, Bobby – who departed Queer Eye in November 2023 – made some admissions to Vanity Fair about his feud with co-star Tan.

While speaking with the magazine, the Queer Eye star opened up about his relationship with the fashion expert.

“Tan and I had a moment,” the Netflix star said.

“There was a situation, and that’s between Tan and I, and it has nothing to do with the show.”

“It was something personal that had been brewing — and nothing romantic, just to clarify that,” he added.

“Should I have unfollowed Tan? No,” Berk continued.

“Maybe I should have just muted him. But that day, I was angry, and that’s the end of it. We became like siblings — and siblings are always going to fight.”

“There were definitely emotions. But each one of us had our reasons why we did what we did,” he concluded.
