Following the trade made with the Nashville Predators by Kent Hughes, involving Justin Barron and Alexandre Carrier, Pierre LeBrun has some updates. The TSN insider, who is always very cautious with his statements, has surprisingly been quite forward about David Savard.
In fact, this has been a recurring theme since the trade concluded on Wednesday night.
Many experts and sources believe this is certainly preparing for David Savard’s departure, and LeBrun has also supported this idea.
An Imminent Trade for David Savard?
The possibility of Kent Hughes trading Savard well before the trade deadline, as he had done with Sean Monahan and Tyler Toffoli, has also been seriously suggested (to avoid injuries).
According to Pierre LeBrun, he mentioned that this is likely Savard’s final season with the Canadiens, and he believes Savard will be traded by the deadline.
It’s truly unfortunate because, personally, I feel David Savard brings so much to this team!
LeBrun indeed explains in his latest report that he expects this to be Savard’s last season in Montreal.
Even worse.. LeBrun is even convinced that Savard will not finish the current season in a Canadiens uniform.
Wow, that says a lot.
It can therefore truly be said that, unfortunately, it seems like the end for Savard in Montreal, especially as insider LeBrun adds that there have been no negotiations to extend Savard’s contract in Montreal, with him set to become a free agent this summer.
What is David Savard worth on the NHL trade market, in your opinion?
