We may have possibly gotten the answer to our question regarding the Montreal Canadiens goaltenders Jakub Dobes and Samuel Montembeault.
After a less impressive performance by Samuel against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night, and another win by the young Dobes, we were eager to see which of the two Martin St-Louis would put back into the mix tonight.
And it seems we now have our answer, thanks to the excellent Anthony Marcotte of BPM Sports.
Samuel Montembeault is doing the starting goalie routine this morning at the Bell Centre
It is therefore expected that Monty will be in goal tonight against Andrei Vasilevskiy and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
«Samuel Montembeault is doing the starter’s routine with Éric Raymond.»
Anthony Marcotte
There could always be a twist, but normally, this is a fairly clear confirmation.
Big update: it is now confirmed and official!
Montembeault will be in the Canadiens’ net tonight.
«Sam Montembeault will be the starter tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning.»
At 23 years old, 6 foot 4 and 215 pounds, Dobes has a 5-0-0 record this season, with a goals-against average of 1.55 and a save percentage of 0.941.
At 28 years old, 6 foot 3 and 218 pounds, Montembeault has a 16-16-3 record this season, with a goals-against average of 2.98 and a save percentage of 0.897.
Would you have made the same decision?
