Here is a truly interesting development regarding the Montreal Canadiens’ top prospect, Ivan Demidov. First, note that Kent Hughes and Vincent Lecavalier are currently over there to meet Demidov directly in his KHL environment.
It was interesting, but nothing more. However, it has now taken an extremely intriguing turn.
As the title mentions, Demidov’s bosses, including his head coach Roman Rotenberg, made a truly intriguing statement.
Negotiations starting tomorrow between the Montreal Canadiens and SKA regarding young Ivan Demidov
Here is the statement in question.
«The people (from the Canadiens) have shown respect by coming here, flying across the world.
Tomorrow, we will have negotiations.»
Roman Rotenberg
Negotiations? Negotiations about what?
He did not elaborate on the subject, but you can imagine this has people talking.
It would be absolutely incredible to see Ivan Demidov come to North America right now and as early as this season.. It would be magical to see Roman Rotenberg announce tomorrow that the agreement between SKA and Ivan Demidov is terminated, but that is not the most realistic scenario.
Still, if the Canadiens and SKA can agree on the next steps to allow Demidov to get more ice time, that alone would be a huge victory and a big step in the right direction.
In the end, the most important thing is truly the development of the young player, and that is what the Montreal Canadiens organization really cares about.
