You can really feel that something special is happening right now in the Montreal Canadiens’ locker room.
A lovely little video has just surfaced, showing the return of Samuel Montembeault to the locker room after being named the first star of the game.
It also captures Cole Caufield’s reaction, but most notably, the moment Patrik Laine awards the game glasses.
A Beautiful Scene in the Montreal Canadiens’ Locker Room
This seems to be a new tradition for the Habs this season, and it creates a truly wonderful moment:
“The guys on the special units, on the penalty kill, you did an exceptional job, Monty
But I have to give them to the scorer of the game-winning goal… Number 1, Jake Evans!”
Patrik Laine
How beautiful to see!
It’s also striking to note how Jake Evans continues to show his value to this team, and the “new guy,” Patrik Laine, wasted no time in recognizing the importance of #71 within this group.
It will be fascinating to see what Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton decide to do in this situation.
Evans, 28 years old, will be an unrestricted free agent (UFA) this summer unless he signs a contract extension.
He has accumulated 14 points, including 5 goals, in 26 games this season, clearly heading toward his best career season in the NHL.
One thing is certain, the atmosphere in the locker room seems to be at its peak right now, and it shows on the ice as well.
This comes at a critical time, as the team will be attempting to get back into the NHL playoff mix over the next few weeks.
