It continues to be strange for Ivan Demidov with SKA in the KHL.
Let’s recall that the Montreal Canadiens prospect barely plays with his team there and is constantly left at the end of the bench, despite his strong performances on the ice and impeccable attitude.
His usage and the decisions regarding him remain puzzling.
A Strange Post Involving Ivan Demidov
The excellent page HabsOnReddit is probably THE ultimate source for keeping track of what’s happening with young Demidov this season, as we eagerly await his much-anticipated arrival in North America.
And look at what they just posted:
«We usually scroll through SKA’s IG page for Ivan Demidov content.
This is a weird photo to post and it’s definitely not accidental. We don’t remember them posting an image of Roman Rotenberg any time this season just yelling at a player on the bench..

Here is the photo in question.
You can draw your own conclusions, but let’s just say we’re really excited to finally see Demidov officially arrive in North America.
As we reported a few days ago, Jeff Gorton and Nick Bobrov traveled to Saint Petersburg to meet with the young Demidov, who had plenty of positive things to say about the Canadiens organization.
Ivan Demidov, just 18 years old, has an impressive 20 points in 33 games this season in the KHL, including 6 goals, despite very limited ice time.. in one of the best professional hockey leagues in the world! (probably the second-best after the National Hockey League)
Barring a major turnaround or unforeseen event, the Montreal Canadiens’ 5th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft is expected to arrive in town next fall and should play the entire 2025-2026 season with the Habs.
According to all indications and many analysts, he will be a very special player and could make an immediate impact on Martin St-Louis’ squad.
A story to follow.
