It’s certainly press conference day for the Montreal Canadiens today. After Martin St-Louis, Alexandre Carrier, Arber Xhekaj, and Mike Matheson earlier today, it was now Jeff Gorton’s turn to answer questions from the press, live from Detroit.
It’s happening right here:
Jeff Gorton announces the Canadiens will have more meetings in the coming hours
Gorton specifically announced that the organization will meet with other players, in addition to Ivan Demidov, as part of their KHL trip.
Interesting.
Regarding the acquisition of Alexandre Carrier, he had this to say:
«For us, finding someone Alex’s age, with his experience, his character, the way he plays, we feel it really fits the way we want to play.. we felt our team needed a more veteran presence.
«Alex is a player we’ve liked for a long time; we know his character and what he brings on the ice as a person, combined with the way he plays… his skillset fits really well with how Martin St-Louis wants his team to play.»
It’s interesting to learn that the Canadiens have had Alexandre Carrier on their radar for a while.
From what little we’ve seen of him so far, I really feel he’ll be appreciated here and will win everyone over.
Canadiens fans are excited as Alex Carrier will make his season debut Friday night against the Detroit Red Wings.
Good luck Alex!
