Get ready to dust off your golf clubs and laugh your way through another hilarious round with the iconic Happy Gilmore! Adam Sandler has just revealed some exciting details about the highly anticipated Happy Gilmore 2, including the confirmation of a special cameo by none other than rap superstar Eminem, alongside golfing legends that will make fans of the sport— and the movie— even more excited.
Sandler, who’s known for his witty humor, recently appeared on The Dan Patrick Show and gave fans a little teaser about the sequel. Although he couldn’t share too much due to restrictions (we can only imagine the “mom’s spaghetti” jokes brewing in the background), he did spill the beans on Eminem’s cameo. When asked directly by Patrick, Sandler confirmed that the rapper is set to make a memorable appearance, though he stayed tight-lipped about the details of his role.
“I’ve known Eminem for a long time, and he’s a great guy,” Sandler said with enthusiasm. “He came in, was funny as hell, and we just hung out for a day. We shot a ton of stuff, and let me tell you, he said a million things we can use, and a million things we’re glad we have on tape!” It’s clear that Eminem’s natural comedic chops will add something extra to the film, just as they did in his previous collaboration with Sandler in Funny People (2009).
But that’s not all—Sandler also confirmed the appearance of golfing legend Jack Nicklaus, as well as a few other surprise golfing icons (though he’s keeping those under wraps for now). Happy Gilmore 2 is shaping up to be a star-studded affair, with familiar faces from the original film returning, including Ben Stiller, Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen, and Dennis Dugan. The film promises to bring back the beloved characters and introduce new ones, making it a must-see for fans of the first movie.
As for the release date, Sandler gave fans a bit of a timeline. While rumors suggested the film might drop in March or April to coincide with the Masters Tournament, Sandler set the record straight, saying it would not be ready by then. Instead, he teased that the film is targeting a release around July, although he couldn’t give an exact date just yet. “Not July 4th, but we’re trying to get it done in time for July,” Sandler shared. Looks like it’s going to be a summer filled with laughs and golf swings!
Fans of the first Happy Gilmore know that the film, which first hit theaters nearly 30 years ago, became an instant classic, blending sports with comedy in a way only Adam Sandler could pull off. Directed by Kyle Newacheck and written by Sandler and Tim Herlihy, the sequel has fans buzzing with excitement. The continuation of Happy’s outrageous antics and his dynamic relationship with his iconic caddy, played by Chris McDonald, is bound to bring back all the laughs.
So, mark your calendars for a Happy Gilmore 2 release around July, and get ready to see Eminem and golf legends like you’ve never seen them before. Stay tuned for more updates—this sequel promises to be a hole-in-one for comedy fans everywhere!
