We have an interesting development following the three-game suspension imposed by Gary Bettman and the NHL on forward Connor McDavid.

McDavid, who is the face of the National Hockey League, was suspended in recent hours for a duration of three games due to an incident involving Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland.

Connor McDavid is really not happy with his suspension

Following this announcement from the NHL, here’s what was recently reported by a popular podcast:

We are hearing that Connor McDavid and his camp are strongly considering scaling back their NHL tour events, such as media interviews to push things for the league.

This was communicated before to the NHL because the lack of protection the Superstar players get in this league.

This is a story to follow over the next few weeks.

It seems that the captain of the Edmonton Oilers wants to send a message, notably for the NHL to do a better job of protecting its star players.

On this matter, journalist Chris Johnston (TSN) has just revealed that, even though McDavid is indeed very disappointed with the verdict and the turn of events, he will not be appealing the suspension.

«Although there was some disappointment following the three-game suspension handed to Connor McDavid by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety, the Oilers captain has decided not to appeal this decision, according to sources.»

– Johnston

Former Canadiens forward Corey Perry weighed in on the suspension, stating that the league should do more to protect its superstar players.

Why aren’t we protecting the superstars? Every other league does it. Mahomes, LeBron.. they protect their superstars.

– Perry on McDavid

The Oilers will therefore be without their captain for the next three games.

McDavid, 28, has accumulated 65 points in 43 games this season, including 20 goals, after recording 132 points and 153 points over the past two seasons.

Details will follow.
