Young Montreal Canadiens defenseman, Logan Mailloux, is currently going through a tough period. After a productive start to the season in the AHL and with signs pointing to an imminent call-up to the big club, Mailloux now seems far from the National Hockey League.
Instead of moving up the ranks, he’s slipping down.
This took a more intense turn yesterday afternoon when he lost his spot on the second power-play unit of the Rocket. Ouch.
Mailloux had already lost his role on the first power-play unit.. And now he’s lost his spot on the second power-play unit as well.
This is far from ideal.
The trade made by the Montreal Canadiens with the Edmonton Oilers, involving Noel Hoefenmayer, has seemingly hurt Mailloux since Hoefenmayer is now taking Mailloux’s ice time in Laval.
Things aren’t going well for Logan Mailloux right now
Let’s truly hope things can turn around, especially since Mailloux was having an almost historic start to the season (in terms of production for a young defenseman).
«Logan Mailloux is no longer on the Rocket’s power play. Noel Hoefenmayer and Adam Engström are being favored on both units today.»
Anthony Marcotte
Those are significant roles when it comes to achieving success.
This will be a situation to monitor over the coming days and weeks.
Mailloux, 21 years old, is a young defenseman standing 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 213 pounds.
He has 15 points in 23 games this season with the Laval Rocket, as well as three points in five games with the Canadiens.
More details to follow.
