The Montreal Canadiens, led by Martin St. Louis, secured a 4-3 victory last night against the Detroit Red Wings, and once again, one name stood out. Jake Evans delivered another solid performance, increasingly pushing Kent Hughes to take his name off the trade market.
Last night might have been a pivotal game for Evans.
Quietly, he was once again one of the best players on his team.
Jake Evans forces Kent Hughes to forget the idea of trading him
It seems to be unanimous.
«Huge win for the Habs. I love seeing the guys fight like that. Shoutout to Jake Evans, easily my first star of the game.» – HFTV
The word is out, Evans continues to make himself indispensable to the Montreal Canadiens, and it’s becoming a real question how Kent Hughes could trade him in the coming weeks, even though his contract is expiring and keeping him in town may cost more than anticipated.
«And let’s just say this season, Evans’ resume is truly excellent and keeps improving, which may force the Habs’ management to make a very big decision.
Indeed, since Evans is in the final year of his contract ($1.7M annually), he becomes an easy player to trade with high market value.» – DansLesCoulisses
He could indeed fetch a big return at the trade deadline, but he could also bring significant value as an important player in MSL’s lineup.
Personally, I would keep him, and I don’t see how Kent Hughes could trade him, especially after last night’s game in Detroit.
