As the NHL trade deadline approaches, there’s speculation about what a player like Josh Anderson could fetch in a trade.
On this topic, the excellent Bob Hartley recently shared his thoughts on BPM Sports, and he believes Anderson’s value could be massive.
A few years ago, it was rumored that Josh Anderson might fetch a high 1st-round pick, but his value then plummeted to almost nothing. Now, it seems the forward has regained significant value.
A 1st-round pick in exchange for Josh Anderson?
This possibility was mentioned on Sportsnet, and listening to Bob Hartley’s comments yesterday, it sounds enticing.
Here’s what he had to say:
«Josh Anderson is going to have massive value on the market.
You know, a team that wants to go far in the playoffs.. We saw how the Panthers won, and how Vegas won, you need that grit!
I’ve rarely seen Josh Anderson skate as well as he has since joining the Canadiens.
At 4-on-5, on the penalty kill, he’s still very good. He goes to the net, he doesn’t have the elite scoring touch, but he can still score goals, and he’s able to punish the opposition.
He’s still signed for 2 more years at $5.5 million. Maybe the Canadiens would need to retain $1 or $2 million, but that would only add to Josh Anderson’s value.»
Bob Hartley
It’s intriguing because this comes from a true expert and a head coach who knows what a team needs to win.
Knowing he has good trade value, what would you do with Josh Anderson?
Should Kent Hughes take advantage of this opportunity? Or should he still hold on to Andy?
