The Florida Panthers’ forward Sam Bennett could be a brilliant target for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.
He is set to become a free agent and is exactly the kind of player that fans would immediately love.
He is a true playoff center, tough, capable of scoring big goals and accumulating over 60 points per season.
In short, this is an acquisition that has indeed just been brought forward on BPM Sports, by David Ettedgui.
Discussion on BPM about the signing of Sam Bennett by the Montreal Canadiens
And in your opinion, could Bennett indeed become a solid addition for the Canadiens?
»As a third line centre for the Canadiens, I would eye Sam Bennett»
Bennett, 28 years old, is a 6-foot-1, 193-pound center, and he is very fiery.
He is the kind of player you hate to face but love to have on your team.
He was the 4th overall pick by the Calgary Flames in 2014 (1st round) and has accumulated 28 points in 43 games this season, including 13 goals, with 53 penalty minutes.
Last season, he recorded 41 points in 69 regular-season games (100 penalty minutes).
In his last two playoff runs, Sam Bennett scored 14 points in 19 games, and 15 points in 20 games.
That says a lot about the competitor he is.
If we adjust that to a production pace over 82 games, Bennett has produced at rates of 57 points, 52 points, 50 points, and 53 points over the last four years.
A story to follow at the end of the season.
