I think the Canadiens are playing with heart right now. With guys like Patrik Laine and Alexandre Carrier, the team has found its way back to winning.
Imagine when prospects like Michael Hage and Ivan Demidov are part of the Habs’ lineup.
Recently, Pierre McGuire said there are only four untouchables among the Habs’ young prospects: Ivan Demidov, Jacob Fowler, Owen Beck, and Logan Mailloux.
Four untouchable players on the Canadiens, according to Pierre McGuire
For Demidov and Fowler, it’s 100% certain they are off-limits.
Demidov is a future elite player, and Fowler is our goalie of the future.
For guys like Mailloux and Beck, I’m less convinced.
Mailloux has potential, but with players like Lane Hutson and Kaiden Guhle in the lineup, you’d likely see him playing on a third pairing.
In my opinion, if we can trade him while he still has good value, it would be a smart move.
As for Beck, he’s a good player, but he reminds me of Jake Evans.
He’s a bottom-9 guy, not really someone you should call untouchable. Especially since Evans is on fire right now!
In any case, I believe the word untouchable shouldn’t exist.
If you get a really interesting offer, you should always be willing to listen. Even Wayne Gretzky, the greatest player of all time, was traded back in the day.
So yes, the Habs are doing well, and the future looks promising. But should we really label some young players as untouchable? In my opinion, I don’t think so.
