Last night, after the Montreal Canadiens’ victory over Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers, live from the Bell Centre, Nick Suzuki made a beautiful gesture.
A true captain’s gesture.
As you know, goaltender Samuel Montembeault was extraordinary in his team’s victory, shutting out the offensive machine that is the Oilers and stopping all 30 shots directed at him.
After the game, right on the ice, Suzuki went straight over, grabbed the game puck, and handed it to him.
We love it.
This will definitely be a special game for Montembeault, especially since the General Manager of Team Canada (ahead of the Four Nations Tournament), Kyle Dubas, was in the stands.
It was certainly special for him to keep this game puck, marking his third career shutout in the NHL and potentially earning him a spot with Team Canada.

Samuel Montembeault Keeps a Firm Grip on His Role as the Montreal Canadiens’ Number One Goaltender
Quietly, Monty is back above a .900 save percentage this season.
In 15 games, Samuel Montembeault has a record of 6 wins, 8 losses, and one overtime loss, with a goals-against average of 2.85 and a save percentage of .906.
Considering he plays for a rebuilding team, it’s solid.
Let’s remember that he’s competing with names like Jordan Binnington, Adin Hill, Logan Thompson, Stuart Skinner, Darcy Kuemper, and Cam Talbot.
If it were up to you, would Samuel be part of your goaltending tandem for Team Canada?
Do you see him as the 1st goalie? 2nd or 3rd?
One thing’s for sure, he truly enriched his resume with last night’s game against the Edmonton Oilers, and we love it.
