The Philadelphia 76ers have had a disappointing start to the 2024-25 NBA season, winning just 1 of their first 6 games. Fans were particularly excited about their recent matchup against the Phoenix Suns, where star player Paul George made his debut with the 76ers. Unfortunately, his debut did not meet expectations, as the Sixers lost to the Suns with a final score of 116-118.
George appears visibly upset about the close loss to the Suns. During a post-game interview with NBC Sports Philadelphia, the 34-year-old star discussed his poor decision-making in the game’s final moments.

“That was a bad evaluation. I thought we were down one. I thought when KD made the layup, that put them up one. Otherwise, go for the 3 to try and win the game as opposed to going for the 2 to tie the game. So after watching it, another bonehead play.” George said.
In the game’s final moments, with the 76ers trailing by two points, George had a chance to tie the game. The 34-year-old star took a jumper from just inside the three-point line, but the shot failed, and the 76ers ultimately lost the game.
Paul George Speaks Out About Prior Game Minute Restrictions
Despite setbacks in the game’s final moments, George finished with 15 points, four assists, and 5 rebounds. Before the game, Coach Nick Nurse mentioned that George would be on a minutes restriction. However, he ended up playing 32 minutes, which he addressed in the post-game interview.
“There were moments where I was gassed, but, you know, I wanted to kind of play through that to deal with the endurance. It helped me for sure for the next couple of games to get that rhythm. I wasn’t supposed to play 31 minutes, but I wanted to play 31 minutes.” George said.
George will play the next game against the Los Angeles Clippers, the team he was traded from during the offseason. James Harden’s Clippers are scheduled to host the 76ers at the Intuit Dome on Wednesday.
