The Oklahoma City Thunder delivered an exhilarating 134-128 win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday, bouncing back stunningly after a tough loss to the Golden State Warriors. This victory showcased the outstanding play of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who had put up a strong showing even in the loss to the Warriors.
However, the Thunder vs. Warriors game is gaining attention for more than just the scoreboard. A video clip from the game recently went viral, showing a moment where Shai Gilgeous-Alexander appeared to kick Warriors player Andrew Wiggins in a sensitive area while making a basket.
The play went uncalled by the referees, but it certainly did not go unnoticed by NBA fans online. Many fans expressed frustration and anger after viewing the clip.
Some fans were so incensed that they called on NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to investigate the incident, feeling that it merited disciplinary action. Others criticized the referees, arguing that they had missed a clear foul.
In the mix of online debate, a portion of fans even went as far as to draw comparisons between Gilgeous-Alexander’s play and some of Draymond Green’s more notorious moves on the court.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Leads Thunder Past Clippers Without Chet Holmgren
The Thunder won against the Clippers without Chet Holmgren, as he suffered an injury during their Warriors game. With Holmgren out, the Thunder made adjustments by going smaller with their lineup, a strategy that ultimately paid off in a hard-fought win. During the post-game press conference, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander explained what the team needed to focus on.
“All of us have to figure out to get stops and rebound. A few things that Chet does,” Gilgeous-Alexander said.
In Holmgren’s absence, Gilgeous-Alexander delivered a career-best performance, scoring 45 points, along with 3 rebounds and 9 assists. Notably, the entire Thunder starting lineup rose to the challenge, with all five starters scoring in double figures.
