LeBron James is surely a name that defines the NBA at this point. Having played a whopping 22 seasons in the top-tier basketball league, James has established himself as a legend. However, just like all good things, the King James era is also nearing its end. Currently 39 years old, James is nearing 40. That is quite a lot of age to be huffing and puffing with basketball in the NBA. But James is built differently.

Looking to win his 5th NBA ring, James has been slowly getting into his groove this season. After a lean patch for the Lakers, two back-to-back victories have put things back on track. And right at the helm of things is LeBron James. Recently, the NBA legend became the oldest athlete in the NBA to clinch consecutive triple-doubles. King James achieved the feat by hanging 19 points, 16 assists, and 10 rebounds, which clearly defines his out-of-the-world profile.

Thus, it is only a shame that the retirement rumors are doing the rounds for LeBron James. However, in a recent X post uploaded by Dave McMenamin, James dropped a subtle hint at his retirement possibilities.

Speaking on the matter, the 39-year-old said, “I’ve been blessed by the man above with some, some ‘Outers World’ ability from the beginning, and then I just take full advantage of it,” said LeBron. “I wasn’t going to disrespect what He’s given me, and see how long I can do it. But I won’t do it till the wheels fall off, I’ll tell you that. I won’t do that, I won’t be one of those guys.” Now, this must be a concern for the Lakers’ fans.

After all, King James also carries with him a special myth. In all the seasons he has played, James has reached the NBA finals every time his team has made a 2-0 start. And guess what? This year, the Lakers were 3-0 up before succumbing to back-to-back defeats. Now, coming back to James’ retirement, going by his version, we might not see any more of LeBron and Bronny teaming up together.

No More Father-Son Moments For LeBron James?

James had always dreamed of playing alongside his son, Bronny James. The dream was fueled further when Bronny was drafted by the Lakers. However, during the second preseason game against the Phoenix Suns, Bronny James finally made his NBA debut. In the second quarter, Bronny played alongside King James, presenting one of the most iconic moments in NBA history.

Moreover, the duo also made history in the regular season. In the opening match against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Bronny and LeBron became the first-ever father-son duo to grace the NBA court. Sadly, with King James dropping major retirement hints, it now looks as if no more such historic moments will be on display. Thus, while we don’t know what is to come, it remains to be seen how things pan out in the future.
