The Carolina Panthers’ first-round pick, Xavier Legette, has been going viral recently for his extremely strong southern accent. Many people first noticed it when he was first drafted and couldn’t get enough of it.
Recently, he attended the Week 1 matchup at South Carolina, his old school, where the broadcast team interviewed him about his experience in the NFL so far and his training camp. This time, though, everyone had very different comments about Legette’s accent.
XAVIER LEGETTE IS A LIVING LEGEND.

“What exactly is funny? He was respectful , kind & very nice to the reporter. I don’t see anything funny besides a player answering questions,” one comment said.
“I watched the whole thing waiting for what was so funny.. he’s the funniest player because of his accent?” said another abut Legette’s accent.
“He didn’t say anything funny. He’s just talking with his usual country accent. You laughing at him not with him,” added a third.
“There is nothing funny about this video, unless you’ve never met someone from the south I guess,” a fourth added.
Based on these comments, it’s become very obvious that people think the media is going too far with Xavier’s accent and find it somewhat disrespectful.
Xavier Legette Is Set To Have A Big Rookie Season
The Panthers’ use of the No. 32 pick to keep Legette in Carolina could be their biggest move this offseason to fix the offense.
Carolina has completely revamped the wide receiver position by also trading for Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson and the two could create one of the more dynamic duos in the league.
Legette is currently the third receiver on the Panthers’ depth chart behind Johnson and Adam Thielen but could easily climb to two by the end of the season.
