Karl-Anthony Towns is facing the wrath of the hoops world. Recently, KAT and the New York Knicks squared off against the Dallas Mavericks in an all-important regular season clash. Unfortunately, things did not end well for the Knicks, and the Mavericks dominated the entire proceedings. Losing 114-129 meant that the Knicks once again slumped after winning against the Denver Nuggets.

Now, the Mavericks fans have surely enjoyed watching their team get into the winning ways. However, there was one more reason for them to feel happy. Karl-Anthony Towns has always been quite a character. Speaking a lot of controversial words, KAT recently claimed himself superior to Dirk Nowitzki in terms of shooting. Such an ambitious statement did not sit well with the Mavericks’ fans, as they took the opportunity to taunt Towns.

Throughout the game, whenever KAT got hold of the ball, the audience started to chant, ‘Overrated’ to disrupt the pace of Anthony Towns’ game. Adding to the embarrassment, KAT did have quite a timid game. Having played for 35 minutes, the 29-year-old dropped only 25 points with 4 assists and 14 rebounds. With KAT failing to live up to his own prediction, let’s look at what KAT says about him and Dirk Nowitzki.

Karl-Anthony Towns’ Bold Claim Regarding Dirk Nowitzki

Dirk Nowitzki is an NBA legend. Playing for the Mavericks, Nowitzki ran havoc among his opponents. His impeccable three-point shooting ability made the Dallas Mavericks a threat to be reckoned with in the NBA. Justifying his talents, Nowitzki won the NBA championship back in 2011. He was also adjudged as the MVP in the 2011 NBA finals. Nowitzki also claimed the NBA MVP award back in 2007, along with 14 All-Star appearances.

Meanwhile, Karl-Anthony Towns seems to have a lot of faith in his abilities. So much so that he once claimed himself to be better than Nowitzki! “I’m the greatest big-man shooter of all time. That’s a fact. You can see the stats. I ain’t got to play like no one else. Everyone trying to find themselves to be the second version of me when I’m the first version. I don’t got to be the second version of someone else. I’m already an original,” KAT said while speaking with The Athletic’s Jon Krawcyznksi.

Thus, with the heat getting to Karl-Anthony Towns, it remains to be seen how he can bounce back. The Knicks will next travel to the Spectrum Center to face the Charlotte Hornets and will hope to continue their unbeaten run in the NBA Cup this season.
