Terry Bradshaw is not under any illusions about who he wants to see start at quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers for the rest of the season.
Bradshaw, a four-time Super Bowl winner with the team, is in touch with the ongoings in Pittsburgh, especially given his role at FOX. Like most people around the game, he has an opinion on who should start under center.
Justin Fields started the first six games of the season, winning four of them while Russell Wilson was sidelined. However, with the veteran fully recovered from a calf injury, competition for the starting position is back on.
Bradshaw spoke to TMZ on the development and claimed he would “hang my hat with the young guy” if it were up to him.
“I’m gonna stay with Fields,” he added. “I think he’s played really good. He’s such a great athlete, he can throw, and I think he just fits the team he has right now.”
Justin Fields Disagrees With Terry Bradshaw
Fields has played very well indeed, throwing for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns, and just one interception, also scrambling for 231 rushing yards and five TDs.
Still, he doesn’t think he’s been that good.
“I don’t think I played good enough, if I’m being real with you,” he told reporters on Thursday. “If I’m being real with myself, if I did play well enough, I don’t think there would be any sort of [question] who should be playing, who should not.”
Wilson was brought in as the Steelers’ starter in the offseason, but the team had a free run at Fields as the Chicago Bears wanted to make room for Caleb Williams.
Given this, it does make sense for him to start, but benching Fields now might not be the smartest decision at the moment.
