Von Miller just completed a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Without the two-time Super Bowl champion, the Bills went 3-1 and allowed just 15.75 points per game.
The pass-rushing duo of Greg Rousseau and AJ Epenesa kept Buffalo’s front seven intact while Miller was sidelined. And don’t forget the Bills finished second in scoring defense during the 2022 season, even though he missed six games.
So there’s a case to be made that the Bills would be better off trading Miller and clearing out the remaining money on the six-year, $120 million deal he signed in 2022 free agency. And if he hits the trade block, there shouldn’t be a shortage of teams interested in the future Hall of Famer.
Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports proposed a fascinating trade proposal that would see Buffalo deal Von Miller to the Philadelphia Eagles:
“The Eagles probably shouldn’t be in the business of adding aging defenders. But they badly need a pass rush, and Miller, though suspended until Week 8, was a Pro Bowler under Vic Fangio in Denver.”
The Eagles could certainly use a player like Von Miller. In the offseason, they traded star pass rusher Haason Reddick to the New York Jets and tried replacing him with Bryce Huff in free agency.
But Huff and veteran mainstay Brandon Graham have combined for only 2.5 sacks. Jalen Carter and Josh Sweat share the team lead with only three sacks apiece, a clear-cut indicator that Philly needs another edge rusher to compete in the difficult NFC.
What Eagles Should Offer Bills For Von Miller
Philadelphia should either see if Buffalo would be keen on a one-for-one swap: Miller for Huff and the last two years of his contract. If not, a conditional 2026 fifth-round draft pick that can become a fourth depending on Miller’s playing time would be a fair price.
