Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered another concussion last Thursday when he collided with Damar Hamlin of the Buffalo Bills and promptly hit his head on the ground and went into a fencing position.
Support for the quarterback flooded social media while many called for him to retire.
Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert made some shocking comments about his teammate this week. He revealed he went to a Disney event with Jonnu Smith and Tua Tagovailoa’s family the night after Tagovailoa suffered a concussion.
He even stated Tua showed “no visible signs of having been concussed,” he told Sun Sentinel’s David Furones.
The Miami Dolphins placed Tua Tagovailoa on injured reserve after the quarterback was diagnosed with his third concussion in two years.
That means Tagovailoa will be sidelined for at least four games.
He will be eligible to return in Week 8 when the Dolphins host Arizona at Hard Rock Stadium on October 27th. However, he must complete a series of tests and assessments required by the NFL’s concussion protocol before returning to the field.
Miami Dolphins Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa Has Disturbing History of Injuries
The Miami Dolphins placed star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on the reserve/injured list days after he was forced off the field during the Dolphins’ 31-10 loss against the Buffalo Bills after diving for a first down and taking a hit from Bills safety Damar Hamlin.
The 26-year-old has a disturbing history of concussions.
He suffered multiple in the 2022 season and said in 2023 that he had considered stepping away from football “for a time.”
Tagovailoa’s first confirmed NFL concussion was during the 2022 season, also during “Thursday Night Football” against the Cincinnati Bengals.
This came with controversy as Tua fell hard four days prior on the turf and was originally deemed a head injury but later determined to be a back ailment.
Tagovailoa then suffered another concussion in Week 16 against the Green Bay Packers, which caused him to miss the final two games of the season and the playoff game.
Now, his third concussion has come in 2023.
