Derrick Rose’s stint with the Memphis Grizzlies has ended unexpectedly after appearing in 24 games last season. Reports suggest that Rose requested the Grizzlies to release him. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Grizzlies granted his request and waived him from the team.
Amid the swirling rumors, Rose sparked more speculation with a cryptic message on social media. On Wednesday, he posted a video to Instagram with the caption, “The Renascence 9.26.24.”
In the video, Rose is seen sitting on his sofa, looking at a rose and writing something in his diary before moving to play chess, appearing visibly disappointed.
Rose signed a two-year, $6.6 million deal with the Grizzlies, meaning he still has another season remaining. He had also stated his intention to return to Memphis for the 2024–25 season.
However, it appears that something may be unfolding behind the scenes. Last season, Rose averaged 16.6 minutes per game, contributing 8.0 points and 3.3 assists for the Grizzlies.
