Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers have been involved in a series of significant tension recently. While the team has been languishing at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, things have been rough off the court, too. And right at the helm of things is Joel Embiid himself. With news of his unpleasant interaction with Tyrese Maxey getting leaked, Embiid has been in quite a foul mood recently.
Carrying on his frustrations further, Embiid has posted a cryptic 4-word message on his X account. Ahead of the 76ers’ match against the Clippers, the 30-year-old tagged crypto.com in a post. “Block out the noise,” he wrote. While it is not confirmed, this might be a dig at all the trolls coming his way. In a recent leak, news about Tyrese Maxey calling out Embiid for being late was reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania.
However, the shocking aspect of the entire interaction was that the team meeting news was not supposed to go out. This meant that someone from within the team acted as a snitch to let the goose get loose. Since then, Embiid has been a constant target for the online trolls. Add to that, the injury woes of the NBA icon, which has made things go even worse. However, reacting to the news of the leak, the likes of Embiid and Paul George did not look pleased.
Joel Embiid And Co. Express Disgust About The Team Meeting News
Joel Embiid acknowledged that the interaction between him and Maxey did take place. However, he also stated that it lasted for merely 30 seconds. Enraged at how things got out, Embiid lashed out at the snitch, calling him “a piece of s**t.” He is also allegedly on the lookout for the person who leaked such sensitive information to the media.
Well, it was not only Joel Embiid who was frustrated at the news. Fellow hooper Paul George, too, seemed quite angry at how the entire incident panned out. “It being leaked, that’s where it kind of negates everything that we had in that meeting as far as trusting in one another and putting everything out there so that we can all have these conversations and it being not taken from a bad place,” said George in an episode of Podcast P. Thus, with things looking murky for the 76ers, it remains to be seen how fast they can come out of the mess in the future.
