Former NHL enforcer Paul Bissonnette was assaulted on Sunday night while out at a restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona.
According to a report from Fox 10, Bissonnette was at Houston’s restaurant when the assault took place.
As per the report, Bissonnette was allegedly attacked by six men at the restaurant and his injuries forced him to go to the hospital.
These men were allegedly getting rowdy, and it was Bissonnette who went over to calm them down.
However, they got even more upset and ended up getting physical with the former Arizona Coyotes player.
All six men were subsequently arrested for their actions and are being accused of disorderly conduct, as well as assault.
Paul Bissonnette assaulted in Scottsdale
“There was an altercation inside the restaurant with six adult men and the management. Reportedly, Paul Bissonnette tried to help management calm the men and get them to leave. The situation escalated to the men assaulting Paul Bissonnette both inside and outside of the restaurant,” Scottsdale Police Sgt. Allison Sempsis said.
Ultimately, this is absolutely horrible to hear and we are wishing Bissonnette nothing but the best during this very difficult time.
Police did not make any specific comments about the nature of the injuries that Bissonette sustained.
However, what we do know is that Bissonnette is not facing anything life-threatening, which is very good to know.
Hopefully, he is able to recover swiftly from this and rejoin his colleagues over at TNT in no time.
This is a developing story and we will be sure to provide any updates.
