Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki responded to Martin St-Louis’s punishment in a press conference just minutes ago.

Earlier today, St-Louis held a punitive practice for his players following another disappointing loss, this time against the Washington Capitals.

The pucks were put away, and the players skated.

Nick Suzuki responds to the punishment Martin St-Louis inflicted on his players

After the intense skating session, the captain was asked by journalists about the message Martin St-Louis was sending.

Here’s what Suzuki replied.

Reporter: «What do you think is the message the players should get from that practice?»

Nick Suzuki: «We just haven’t been good enough lately. We know what kind of team we can be, we haven’t seen that in couple of weeks. Message sent. We just need to have a good game tomorrow.»

What do you think? Will the players respond in the right way? Was this skating session necessary following the loss to the Washington Capitals and ahead of the game against the Pittsburgh Penguins?

At the time of writing, Montreal sits in 25th place in the NHL standings with a record of 4 wins, 6 losses, and 1 overtime loss (with one of the worst defensive records in the NHL).

Things haven’t really been the same since that Game one shutout against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Will the Montreal Canadiens turn things around? We’ll see.
